SFS is looking for Cyber Security Engineers Levels 1-3 for a pending proposal to support the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) which leads the nation's medical and public health preparedness for, response to, and recovery from disasters and public health emergencies in the DHHS. Protecting and building resilience into the critical infrastructure and key resources of the United States - against all hazards-based scenarios - is essential to the Nation's security, public health, safety, and economic vitality. Their infrastructure network includes thousands of essential facilities and plants, transportation networks, and information technology systems.
Functional Duties/Responsibilities:
Cybersecurity Engineer 1 (Foundational / Entry) (FIVE tasks — applies as baseline for all levels) 1. Develop, update, and format cybersecurity guides, policies, technical documentation, and educational materials in support of cybersecurity programs, under senior technical guidance.
2. Provide technical assistance support by responding to requests for information, documenting cybersecurity processes, and assisting stakeholders with implementation questions.
3. Conduct research on cybersecurity standards, frameworks, tools, and emerging technologies to support the development of guidance and instructional materials.
4. Assist with reviewing cybersecurity policies and technical documents for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with federal cybersecurity requirements and best practices.
5. Support delivery of cybersecurity educational content, including presentations, job aids, and reference materials, for internal or external stakeholders.
Cybersecurity Engineer 2 (Advanced / Independent) (TWO additional tasks — in addition to all Level 1 tasks)
1. Independently develop and lead the creation of cybersecurity policies, technical guides, and implementation documentation, translating complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for diverse audiences.
2. Provide advanced technical assistance to government and industry stakeholders, including analyzing implementation challenges and recommending practical cybersecurity solutions.
Cybersecurity Engineer 3 (Senior / Expert / SME) (TWO additional tasks — in addition to all Level 1 and Level 2 tasks)
1. Serve as a senior subject matter expert for cybersecurity engineering, leading the technical direction, review, and approval of cybersecurity policies, guidance, and educational materials. 2. Advise senior leadership on cybersecurity engineering strategy, emerging risks, and technology trends, and represent the organization in high-level interagency, public–private, or industry engagements.
Required Education/Skills
Cybersecurity Engineer 1: Bachelor’s degree in related field; 0 – 3 years’ experience
Cybersecurity Engineer 2: Bachelor’s degree in related field; 4 – 9 years’ experience
Cybersecurity Engineer 3: Bachelor’s degree in related field; 10+ years’ experience (Master’s degree may substitute for Bachelor’s degree + 2 years’ experience)
